What is OC Workshop?
The name is pretty self-explanatory. DW is full of outlets for fandom RP characters, but not much is out there for OCs only. This is a place to play and develop your OCs.
What is the invite/referral system?
At the moment, OC Workshop is only open to people I have invited, or friends I've invited have referred. This is because I'm crotchety and old and don't want to mod a huge comm, nor police its members. I have friends whose writing abilities I trust, and thus welcome them to the comm. Likewise, I trust their judgment, so if they want to spread the word, that's great! If you don't know me personally, just PM me at het and mention who you are and who referred you. Then I'll approve your request to join the comm.
How do I join?
Posting and commenting is for members only, so you'll have to send a request to join before you can start. If I know you, you're good to go. If you're here via referral, just follow the instructions above. You won't be given a tag for your characters until you post them to the intro meme, however, so make sure you do that if you want to participate with them.
Are AUs of fandom characters or fandom OCs allowed?
Not right now, sorry. OC Workshop is meant to be for those completely original characters you've had bouncing around your skull but haven't felt comfortable tossing at any of the usual DW RP comms. However, for AUs, you can check out my affiliate crosscanon!
Is there a limit to how many characters I can bring?
Nope! Bring as many – or as few - as you like.
How is this comm set up?
I'm aiming for three days a week of new prompt posts: Mondays with OOC prompt/discussion posts, Wednesdays with straight up writing prompts to get your creative juices flowing, and Saturdays with an RP meme we can let our OCs frolic in. Every prompt will be open to fill forever, although given online attention spans, if you're posting to older ones, you might want to post to the comm and link to them, just to let everyone know you've done them.
What is okay for me to post to the comm?
I'm hoping people will take advantage of the comments of each prompt post, and will post their responses to those. If you're filling prompts that are from a week later than the current one, I would recommend you make a new post to the comm linking to them, so that we might all have a chance to read/reply to them without having to hunt from them.
I also recommend if you're new to the comm (yourself or with a new character), to post a introduction post with a link to your response to the character introduction meme. That way we can all get a basic feel for your new character. :D
How do the tags work?
When you post to the character introduction meme, I'll assign you a tag. It will be in the format of your name: character name. For example, one of mine would be
het: reese cameron
When you post to the comm or respond to a mod prompt post, you can tag it accordingly, based on which characters you've written for. This will (hopefully) keep things organized.
Can I suggest a prompt/discussion post/RP meme?
HELL YES. Drop me a line here and I'll add it to the queue.
I have another question!
Feel free to leave it here or PM me at het.
